School Stress? What To Do? (Persuasive Post)

            One of the problems of kids all over the world that go to school is homework. This is one of the major problems that many kids have to deal with. Another issue that goes hand in hand with homework is recess time. Several kids have minutes only or maybe if they are lucky, a half an hour. I think that many kids struggle with these problems and they need to be changed. These things are both stress causing and can be detrimental to a child’s health physically and mentally.

            The first issue is homework. This is a commonly discussed topic and can be taken two ways. Should kids have homework if they can’t handle it? Some kids have problems at home, sports, or extra curricular activities. These things take time and if the child has to stay up late to do homework, then that is harming their physical health. If the child has problems at home they can be provoked or distracted and may have a hard time doing their homework. Also extra curricular activities can be time consuming and if a child has several activities that is hard for then to do the homework. All of these situations cause major stress in children and can harm their physical health. They get a feeling of hopelessness and don’t have the drive to do the homework with a big stack in front of them. This is hard for kids and can cause them to drop in grades. They can simply just give up because they don’t like the prospect of doing a ton of homework. This isn’t their fault when they can do nothing about the homework they are given. Also in some cases homework can just mean that the teacher is not an effective teacher. They give more homework because they can’t effectively teach the kids the lesson. If a teacher is giving a bunch of homework that probably means that they are not good at teaching and can’t teach well. If the teacher is doing a good job teaching the kids than wont need homework at all to learn the lesson better. They can simply learn everything they need in class.  To top it off it, do we really need kids to have an eight hour day of school and than go home to several more hours of homework? Statistics show that the majority of children do not benefit from extensive homework. The only reason they do it is because they have to and they do it out of habit while not actually learning.

            The second topic is recess. The topic of recess is not that well discussed but is a big factor on how well the child does in class. There is not much to say on this topic accept the fact that children benefit from having more playtime. Studies show that kids that have longer recesses do better in school and are more attentive and less distracted or distracted. A certain study said that the children, after a 15 minute recess were 5% more on task and 9% less fidgety. This proves that recess improves the learning and development of children. So the more recess kids get, the better they perform in school.

            In conclusion, to reduce stress and boost child development, schools should have curriculums with little or no homework and more recess. This will greatly improve many children and their lives as well as enhance their physical and mental abilities and help them get further in life.   

Persuasive Post

I will be writing my post on why kids should get more free time and less homework. I found studies that kids that have more play time are more productive in school and can channel their energy for better uses. They also need less homework so they can do more stuff at home and not bring school to the house.

My Favorite Picture Finder

I liked Wylio the best because it is a good site and does the citing and harder things for you. The other sites like flikercc are good but have mostly copywrited pictures. Mostly all of the good pictures are protected. They all are good but after looking at all of them my choice would be Wylio.

My Last Week at ELC

 Last week was amazing! My class and I went to Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center up north on Lake Superior. The view was amazing and the place was really awesome. We had a supervisor named Danny and he easily brought the fun level up by at least 50%. We had a lot of fun and played lots of games.  The staff there was nice and the classes were almost all fun. I thought the best classes were the rock climbing and ropes course. It was a great week!

Blogs

Some of the blogs I visited were Brittany’s blog which I thought was really good. The design is good and the layout is nice, also the picture at the top is awesome.  Under the second category I visited Squirrel blog. I liked the way it looked and how the layout was kind of fitting for the title of Marshall The Insane Squirrel. In the third category I found Abby’s blog is really interesting. She has a good design and the colors are all fitting and matching.  The main thing is the avatar which I though was really good. The fourth category was Footprint Or Dossier and I choose Heather’s blog. I didn’t really know what that meant so I think that the blog is good and that she has a really good layout and colors. The posts are good and the writing is interesting. The fifth category was Introducing the Class or School and I visited 2YCrodon and I thought that it was a good class blog and that they did a really good job of posting and pictures.

My Footprint

I have joined the sites of facebook, google, and others that are just out there. When I joined the sites I only gave them limited information that was needed. I didn't give out any personal information or things like that. Once in a while I will fill out another question besides the * questions. I will fill out things like my city or birthday but nothing else. After searching my name I found a ton of information about myself and my dad and grndpa (we all have the same first and last names) which was kind of scary. I found pictures, statistics and other things like that about our farm. I think the only things I leave behind are some bits of not so important information and even though that can affect me, it's not too much.

Why?

You should visit my blog because it is cool. Ok but really it is fun and it has interesting posts on it. It has a good layout and it looks great. I don't even need a picture for it. You can take a look for youself!

     I just did a makeover of my blog. I took the backround and set it and that changed it to a different set. I think that I liked my other backround better but it's fine. I also choose to make the text more visible and changed it to Times New Roman.

     I think that the contest is going to be a good experience for everyone in our class. I hope that I can get some kind of recognition for my art and to be able to have a good experince entering my first international contest. I hope that at least one person from our class get some award. It's going to be awesome!

  We went to themint.com and this is what I learned. I think that I learned alot about finances. The site was great for me to get a look at what writing a check is like. I also learned about things like balancing a budget and working with money. I think that I learned about interest and lots of other things to do with banks. It was fun.

School Goals & Life

I think that school is a hard part of your life. I wouldn’t mind it at all, in fact I probably would love going to school if we didn’t get homework. Homework just takes up your free time at home. School goes from 8 to 3 but homework makes it go longer! Oh well. My goals for the rest of the year are to get my grade up to an A+ in everything instead of an A. I would basically like to make my best better. We are doing lots of projects right now. We have a paper in LA, 2 poster things in SS and we’re making soap operas  in religion. I guess its pretty fun and I’m having fun here.

     I don't know what to post but I think I'll talk about what's going on. We are gettin lots of snow here. This is really the first time that there has been a big blizzard in 2011. It's weird how we are getting our first big blizzard on the last day of January. Something else to think about is the fact that it's February! Only 11 more months 'till Christmas! That's funny how fast the time goes when your having fun (and lots of it). Catholic schools week starts today and it's going to be awesome. The basketball season is still going pretty strong. Our team is doing really well and it's going great. The Superbowl is coming and I'm hoping that the Packers win (not because I like them, they are the closest state to us). I think that even as winter is going full force everyone is having a great time (I still miss the warmth) but, we can always look forwards to Valentine's Day!! :)

St.Mary's

The things that I like about St.Mary's are endless. The people were really nice to me when I came here in 7th grade. They welcomed me with open arms. It felt like I became part of teh family. The people here are really nice and the staff is friendly. I like all of the events and especially the SMS Basketball! It is a great school and I am proud to be part of it.

Financial Risk Taking

For the quiz I got a moderate risk taker. I am safer with my money but I will take some risks with my money. I scored a 35 so I am close to being a strong risk taker. I will invest my money wisely but be willing to take risks to get more money.
